Be thankful if you have a job.I have been looking for a job for nine months.Who would hire a 61 year old female.,when your looking for the same job a 25 year old is.Believe you i would rather work then collect and have to pay a high amount out of your unemployment for health insurance.Nobody can walk in my shoes,in less they have been there,

To those who have a job...please be thankful. I always had a job. This is the first time I ever been unemployed. There are some and all of us want to go back to work as soon as possible. Ten people could the best candidates and equally qualify , but only one person gets the job. We need jobs to stay in the US not outsourced to other countries. All I can say join support group and try to be as positive as possible. Good luck and best wishes to all who are still looking for a job.

I've worked at least 40 hours a week and often more since 1977.I've worked on all three shifts under good, poor and terrible conditions and never complained because I felt fortunate for the opportunity to work.I've worked for 3 of Chicago's finest companies and watched them succumb to foreign competition. Each time I was rehired within 90 days for full-time or 2 part time jobs. This is not possible now.You can apply for 50 jobs or 1500 as I have in the last year but hiring is only at a trickle.Living on unemployment is not what I want and neither do millions of others who want to work for a living.

I wish all those who have jobs loose there's and go from making $400. to $1000. or more a week to just $325. a week in unemployment. i can tell you this! you learn the value of a dollar real fast. I don't want the unemployment i want the weekly pay check where i can work overtime to increase my pay check. try and do this on unemployment. If you mow a lawn and earn $50. then you have to clam it and the unemployment office subtracts that from your weekly check and you still only get $325. Be thankful you have a job

Seriously people who are going off on the unemployed should walk a day in our shoes. I have NEVER been unemployed for this long in my life. I literally apply for hundreds of jobs per month. I rarely get an interview. I have a stable work history showing longevity, I am not a job hopper. I lost my job due to a layoff. Unemployment is not a way of survival people. I am 3 months behind on my house and barely making ends meat and that is with a husband who does work. The economy is really taking a toll on society. People that have jobs, count your blessings.

Not so. Last year, the State of PA required me to apply for two jobs per week, two different ways (i.e., internet, US mail, fax or in person), on two different days each week. I actively applied for over 44 jobs, of which generated two interviews, of which I was hired for neither. A few of my laid-off ex-coworkers didn't bother job searching and eliminated themselves from collecting any further benefits. Don't assume people aren't searching. I possess good skills, have had my resume reviewed by several professionals, apply for anything I am qualified or remotely qualified for, and I continue to do so, while others have just given up, and I still remain an unemployed 61-year-old female.

Seriously people, unemployment helps but it's not enough. I'm drawing 1/3 of what I was making and no health insurance. This is not a picnic. There are some of us who like a good job and in return work responsibly and appreciate it.
